Background

Since 1987, Rekal has been a reliable supplier of high-quality hygiene and cleaning products to professional customers in the hotel and restaurant industry, the food industry and the healthcare sector. Rekal combines experience with innovation in its production facility in Gnesta, where their team continuously works to develop products that are optimized for the strict hygiene requirements of the Nordic market.

Challenge

Rekal needed to modernize its e-commerce to better meet the needs of its business customers. This included a streamlined product and order management system that could easily integrate with their existing ERP system, Microsoft Business Central. In addition, Rekal wanted to separate its business areas with different types of products and services, while keeping costs and administration for these stores down.

Solution

Stride helped Rekal implement a Shopify Plus solution that included:

  1. Two-way synchronization with Microsoft Business Central:Stride used Microsoft's official connector to sync products and orders between Shopify and Microsoft Business Central. Through a proprietary app, Stride also created an API to Business Central to handle syncing of companies, company locations, price lists, and users. This ensures that Rekal's e-commerce is always up to date with the latest information from their business system.

  2. Multi-store solution with Shopify Plus:With up to ten stores on a Shopify Plus plan, Rekal was able to create separate stores for their different business areas. They chose to split their stores to reach both the private and public sectors. This allows for tailored features and content for each customer segment without incurring an increased cost.

  3. Custom Shopify Theme:Stride also developed a fully customized theme file that reflects Rekal’s brand and optimizes the user experience. The theme is designed to make it easier for both private customers and professionals to quickly find the right products and get relevant information about Rekal’s hygiene and cleaning solutions.

Results

The new Shopify Plus solution has given Rekal a robust and modern e-commerce platform that supports their long-term growth and expansion. The integrations between Shopify and Microsoft Business Central have automated many processes, reducing the need for manual administration. At the same time, Rekal has gained the flexibility to cost-effectively offer customized shopping experiences for its different customer groups, strengthening their position as a leading supplier in hygiene and cleaning.
