Sustainability

We are doing what we can to leave as small a footprint as possible

For us, sustainability is about making thoughtful decisions in everyday life – in how we build e-commerce, how we travel, what we buy, and how we take responsibility for the people who work at Stride.

We believe more in concrete choices than big words. That is why we focus on things we can actually influence and on solutions that work in the long term.

01

Build less. Reuse more.

We prefer standardized and proven solutions over custom development when there is no clear need to build our own.

Shopify is a mature platform with a large ecosystem and a wealth of built-in functionality from the start. Our starting point is therefore always to use the platform's standard features and established solutions as far as possible.

When we need to develop something custom, there must be a clear business or technical reason for it.

This results in less technical debt, fewer dependencies, and solutions that are easier to maintain, further develop, and live with over time.

02

Technology built to last

We try to avoid technology for technology's sake.

This means keeping the architecture as simple as possible, limiting the number of unnecessary apps and integrations, and building in a way that allows the solution to evolve incrementally rather than having to be replaced.

The same principle applies internally at Stride. We don't buy new computers, phones, or other equipment just because a new model has been released. As long as the technology works and serves its purpose, we continue to use it.

For us, this is both sound business practice and a way to reduce unnecessary consumption.

03

We prefer improving over rebuilding

A functioning e-commerce solution does not need to be replaced just because the business evolves.

We therefore prefer to work long-term with our clients and improve what is already in place. Through our retainers, we analyze, prioritize, and develop continuously instead of creating new projects when smaller and more targeted changes can have a greater impact.

A good commerce solution should be able to live for a long time, change with the business, and continue to create value over time.

04

Travel with a lower footprint

We enjoy meeting our customers and still believe in the value of occasionally sitting in the same room.

When we need to travel for client meetings, we choose the train or an electric car. At the same time, we try to plan our trips so that they are made when a physical meeting actually creates more value than a digital one.

It is a simple choice, but one we can influence ourselves.

05

A sustainable working life

Sustainability is also about the people who work at Stride.

All of our employees are hired and based in Sweden. Stride is a member of TechSverige and has a collective agreement with Unionen. We offer occupational pensions and good employment terms for our staff.

We want to build a workplace where people can develop over time, take on significant responsibility, and have the right conditions to do a good job without it coming at the expense of a sustainable work-life.

For us, long-term relationships with our employees are just as important as long-term relationships with our clients.

06

Sustainability without big words

We do not claim to be climate neutral or sustainable in any absolute sense.

Stride is a knowledge-based company, and our direct impact is limited compared to many of the businesses we work with. That does not mean our choices are insignificant.

We strive to use what we already have, travel smarter, avoid unnecessary technology, and build digital solutions that last longer.

The goal is simple: to leave as little of an impact as possible without compromising the quality of what we deliver.
